We are delighted to have been involved in this prestigious project. This award gives the developers and designers of this project some of the recognition they deserve for showing that an Irish building firm has the skills and the resources to carry out a technically demanding design such as this. They also offered Irish companies the opportunity to showcase products which are capable of performing to passive house standards rather than importing materials. This, of course, is not only a step towards to economic well being in these recessionary times but also enhances the true sustainability of the project.
The PassiV Future Proof window was designed specifically for just such a project with a thermal performance to match the requirements of the Passive house institute. Windows are one of the most expensive single items on any new build. Up to now, windows for energy sophisticated projects such as this have been imported for the Irish market from Austria or Germany adding further to the cost of the build. We hope that this range of windows will help make passive standards more accessible to Irish builders and homeowners.
The window range itself uses a 90mm profile system designed for optimum heat retention. The profile is filled with a low density open cell foam which is CFC free. It accommodates a 52mm triple glazed unit with soft coat low emissivity glass and warm edge spacer bar and Argon filled cavities. The window is currently undergoing certification with the Passive House Institute in Darmstadt in Germany.
